Are you interested in Speech and Language Therapy?
Hey students!
Are you considering a career in Speech and Language Therapy? Well, you have definitely come to the right place!
At Speech Therapy Interactive, we take pride in our commitment in providing a client-centred approach, improving our client’s quality of life and psychological wellbeing. We are a practice that is interested in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Our mission is to better people’s lives.
How do we plan to do this? We are glad you asked!
We want to do this by educating and raising awareness about the role of an SLT in the treatment and rehabilitation for people with swallowing and communication difficulties.
Did you know…?
The latest research shows that one of the barriers to the growth of the profession is that the general public simply do not know about it, or they have misconceptions of what the role of an SLT entails.
A goal of Speech Therapy Interactive is to promote this wonderful profession by supporting the development and learning of future clinicians like you (yes YOU!) and allowing them to experience what a typical day for an SLT tends to look like. We are eager to help current and prospective students of Speech and Language Therapy by offering them workshops/ work experience. If this is something that you are interested in, then look no further.
You may be thinking, hmm is this work experience even worth it?
100% yes!
As much as your grades are important to get into the courses you want to study or even when applying for jobs, it is your work experience in your chosen field that will set you apart from the rest. Not only this, but it is also a great way to see the reality of the profession and see if it is the best fit for you before you commit. Believe us, this is not an opportunity you want to miss!
…She was very helpful in providing information re: the nature of the disorder, what type of assessment and therapy and how vital people skills are to approach a client and involve the family members and carers in the session…
”I really liked how Tina discussed the importance of diversity within the SLT role which has motivated me to continue learning another language fluently…”
”….A misconception I had about speech therapy was that it was used to mainly help children, however, the elderly also need it especially after having a stroke which I learnt that many is when many speech impairments occur…”
